Presented by the  SEMINÁRIO INTERNACIONAL LOS JARDINES HISTORICOS - Centro Internacional para a Conservação do Patrimônio (CICOP), the study 'De Mestre Valentim a Roberto Burle Marx: los jardines históricos brasileros' - From Master Valentim to Roberto Burle Marx: those historical Brazilian gardens, by  Hugo Segawa and Guilherme Mazza Dourado, proposes that America was born during the vision of a paradise lost in the European imagination, as navigator and renaissance figure.

The new territory was transformed into a field of experimentation, the conquerors dominated the natives, organized cities and settlements, and the cultural dialectic created an American laboratory - In a classic conflict between civilization and nature, the Brazilian territory became home to strange experiments, which are worth describing in order to historically understand the relationship between man and the environment.

We will address four creations: the Passeio Público of Rio de Janeiro - a public park constructed in the last quarter of the 18th Century when the Portuguese government was in full force, and three spaces created by the landscaper Roberto Burle Marx in the second half of the 20th Century.
