at a glance

in spite of these accesses the region remains, for the most part, highly undeveloped, with public illumination being almost inexistent. it is also the neighborhood with the smaller amount of inhabitants, totalling a mere 200 residents. these conditions have made it possible for some the last untouched natural wonders in metropolitan rio de janeiro to survive here.

the beaches are particularly well-known and the main attraction of the neighborhood. grumari beach is a beautiful stretch of sand surrounded by steep hills and rich vegetation, similarly to prainha beach, grumari's more famous little sister beach.

abricó beach is located more to the east, nestled between the characteristic rocks, it is the only official nudist beach in the city. just beyond it is the wide extension of grumari beach itself. arrow-back      arrow-forward
