This ecosystem is threatened by immobile appeal on great part of the Brazilian coast, notably at Grumari region, which presents one of the best preserved remnants of Rio de Janeiro municipality. This remnant suffered partial suppression on 1960, and stopped recently. This study evaluated the development of species planted at 2001 and it's regeneration at Parque Natural Municipal do Grumari on two old access roads of parcels of land, on sea-continent direction (north-south), with 2,4 ha each. It was installed plots of 2 x 10 m, with a Clusia fluminensis specie at the center, surveying all individuals with height > 0,5 cm. At area 1 it was identified 27 species from 22 genera, distributed on 13 families. The Shannon-Weaver (H') index was 2,92 nats and the Pielou (J) 0,61. Species with the higher IV where Cupania emarginata, Eugenia ovalifolia, Schinus terebenthifolius, Acacia sp. and Clusia fluminensis. At area 2 it was surveyed 8 species from 8 genera, distributed on 8 families. The species with higher IV where Tapirira guianensis, Byrsonima sericea, Cupania emarginata e Myrsine sp. Although the quality of regeneration where different, composition and physiognomy showed environments similar to initial (area 1) and medium (area 2) secondary sucessional stage, both typical of bushy-arboreal restinga. Area 2 presented spontaneous specie that is threatened of extinction Couepia schotii.
