at a glance

jardim de alá is a french inspired city park, running along a channel connecting the atlantic ocean with the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, while simultaneously seperating the neighborhoods of ipanema and leblon - the name of the garden is said to derive from the 1936 film 'the garden of allah' by richard  boleslawski, starring marlene dietrich.

the garden was completely refurbished in 2003 and is well loved by locals and visitors, for recreational and leisure puposes, and this was evidenced by the public campaign to stop the interruption of the operation of this park, to allow for the construction of the extension of the railway line in 2015 - it is a famous landmark and featuers in many tv and film productions.
