Presented by the Pontifícia Universidade Católica, the study A 'Grande' Barra da Tijuca, (The 'Great' Barra da Tijuca), by Clara Gondin, Luiz Cezar Marinho, Mariana Corrêa and Vivian Bottino, analyzes how It was the architect and urban planner, lúcio costa, who created the master plan for the urbanization of Barra da Tijuca, the Pontal de Sernambetiba and Jacarepaguá, in 1969.

Asides from cultivating a landscape of summits and lakes, the intention was to expand the region whilst maintaining the arid and dry climate. His first plan sought to respect the space and maintain existing standards.

Presented by the    Gestão e Consultoria em Meio Ambiente, Turismo e Logística de Transporte, the study A baixada de Jacarepaguá,(Baixada de Jacarepaguá), examines how during the past four centuries, Barra da Tijuca was unique in its immunity to the urban expansion of Rio de Janeiro, but in reality it was always a farming region, used for cattle rearing, hunting, fishing and leisure activities.                   arrow-back      arrow-forward
