standing at an awesome 98 ft. high, the christ redeemer was inaugurated on the day of our lady of aparecida, october 12, 1931, by then president of brazil, getúlio vargas and cardinal dom sebastião leme - in 2007 it was voted one of the seven wonders of the world, and receives over two million visitors each year.
