at a glance

rua jangadeiros is a small street, just two blocks long, which runs alongside praça general osório - previously called 16 de novembro it was given its current name in 1939 as a tribute to a group of fishermen from the northeast who travelled by raft from ceará to rio de janeiro, arriving on september 19th, 1922 for the centenary celebrations of the independence of brazil.

just a block from ipanema beach and a short walk from both arpoador beach and the rock of the same name, as well as the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, rua dos jangadeiros is excellently located.


 the small bustling street features several wonderful restaurants, cafes and bars such as terzetto ristorante, restaurante fazendola (traditional fejoada restaurant), brasileirinho, pizza express, banana jack, big nectar, café e bar fians and the irish bar.
