del castilho is located in the north zone of rio de janeiro and it is surrounded by four other neighborhoods which reside within the administrative region of inhaúma. these neighborhoods include jardins, maria da graça, cachambi and inhaúma.

the inhaúma region is home to 138,472 residents with varying imcomes and socio-economic status. del castilho, however, is said to be a predominately middle class population.

historically del castilho is known for the railroad line that converges through the area. nowadays it also boasts a metrô station, which provides convenient access to the shopping nova america, a major shopping mall in the heart of the district.
